Nicky Singer has written four novels for adults, five for young people and two books of non-fiction. Feather Boy won the Blue Peter ‘Book of the Year’ Award and has been adapted both for television (winning a BAFTA for Best Children’s Drama) and as a musical (with lyrics by Don Black and music by Debbie Wiseman) for the National Theatre Shell Connections series. Nicky’s forthcoming novel is The Knight Crew, a re-telling of the Arthur legend set in contemporary gangland. She’s currently writing a libretto based on The Knight Crew for a youth opera to be premiered at Glyndebourne in 2010.
