Laura Atkins worked for seven years in the children's publishing industry in the United States, helping to develop books which won a variety of honors including the Coretta Scott King Award and a Bank Street Book of the Year Award. She completed her MA in children's literature at the University of Roehampton in London where she is currently the Conference Manager at the National Centre for Research in Children’s Literature (NCRCL). She has worked with a variety of organizations, including Arts Council of England to organize a conference focusing on children’s publishing and diversity, and Youth Music to develop a picture book, cd and instruments pack for children in the UK.
